Its aging recalls that of those wines that crossed the oceans in the s. XVII towards the colonies and returned to European ports with greater complexity and silkiness.

Made from Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. After aging separately in their respective soleras for 12 years, the two wines are combined to re-age in a 45-cask Solera located in the winery's Sacristy.

Information about Bodegas Lustau

Bodegas Lustau was founded in 1896 by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo. It was a modest beginning: Don José, the court clerk, cultivated the vineyards on his Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza farm. In his own vineyard house he raised the wines that he later sold to the large exporting wineries. He was a warehouseman. A warehouseman was a viticulturist who made and aged his own wines, but due to the lack of commercial contacts, he ended up selling his production to large wineries. At present, their specificity as storekeepers does not allow them to bottle wine to sell to the public, this has meant that many have been disappearing, yes, those that have remained have exceptional criaderas and soleras.

Lustau is the only winery that produces wines in the three cities of the Marco: Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Its vineyards receive around 3.000 hours of sunshine each year, accompanied by relatively high rainfall (600 liters per square meter on an annual average). The landscape of the area is mainly made up of hills of very white limestone, called “albariza”. Its uniqueness is due to the fact that this area was under the sea thousands of years ago. To a lesser extent, areas of mud and sand appear in areas near the coast.

Bodegas Lustau is today considered a reference worldwide when talking about top quality wines. In recent years Lustau has been awarded a multitude of international awards. The awards for Best Spanish Winery of 2011 and Best Winery of Jerez in 2014 and 2016 awarded in London by the International Wine & Spirit Competition stand out.

Lustau has been the first winery in the world to receive twice the prestigious Len Evans trophy for quality and consistency in 2011 and 2016 of the prestigious International Wine Challenge competition.

Year after year, Lustau wines also receive numerous awards and recognitions, which place the winery among the most awarded in the world. Lustau's philosophy has remained the same since its origin in 1896: to offer the consumer the widest and most select collection of Jerez specialties.
