Description
THE PERINET VINEYARDS
The Perinet vineyards comprise three great visions of the historic Priorat. The project as a whole allows the Perinet vineyards to shape a new balance of styles in winemaking. Specifically, the three climates of the vineyard correspond to three styles of wine: warm and mature: Mas Vell, fresh and long: Mas del Xes, and Mediterranean and aromatic: Pendents, in the municipality of Porrera.
The three plots show a strong personality where several local and international varieties grow on steep slopes and terraces with different exposure and orientation. This means that the authenticity of the landscape is transmitted in different wines from the estate, always linked to the climate and the slate soil of Priorat.

The grapes are harvested and chosen exclusively by hand. All batches are kept cold for two days before starting their fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A pumping-over technique is carried out with pressurized air twice a day during the maceration, which lasted more than 30 days in order to obtain an optimal wine. The drop wine is achieved by decantation, the skins and rapas were pressed very gently. Finally, the aging was in oak barrels for aging.
The fermentation is 100% stainless steel, and the aging is 15 months in 40% new oak and 60% in French and American oak one year
Pairing: at Made in Spain we recommend it with meats, cured cheeses, Foie gras.
The region has the coveted DOCa...
Currently, the region has the coveted "Qualified Denomination of Origin" designation that in Spain is only shared with Rioja.
The Priorat Qualified Designation of Origin is a small mountainous region located in the province of Tarragona. The Sierra de Montsant massif delimits it to the north, to the west is the Sierra de La Figuera, to the east is the Sierra de Molló and, to the south, the territory opens up following the course of the Siurana river downstream towards the Ebro The Siurana river and its tributaries are the main geographical artery of the area, and cause a series of valleys and small plains thanks also to the geological sinuosity of the mountains and mountain slopes. In accordance with the legislation of Catalonia regarding the regional administrative division, the territory of the DOCa Priorat falls within a more extensive administrative delimitation known as the "Comarca del Priorat", which also has a part of territory that is not part of the wine-growing Priorat .
The Priorat Qualified Designation of Origin has an area of 17.629 hectares, of which 2.163,97 are planted with vines and cultivated by 513 winegrowers. Administratively, 9 municipalities are part of the DOCa Priorat: Bellmunt del Priorat, Gratallops, El Lloar, El Molar, La Morera de Montsant (which includes the town of Scala Dei), Poboleda, Porrera, Torroja del Priorat, La Vilella Alta and La Vilella Baixa. In addition, within the limits of the DOQ Priorat there is also the northern part of the municipality of Falset (the Masos de Falset area) and the eastern part of the municipality of El Molar (Les Solanes del Molar). La Morera de Montsant, Scala Dei, Gratallops, Torroja del Priorat, Porrera and Poboleda formerly made up the Priorat de la Cartuja de Scala Dei. The rest were included in the delimitation of the appellation of origin that was carried out in 1932 and that makes up the current territory of the DOCa Priorat. As a consequence of the expansion of the cultivation of the vine and the quality of its wines, promoted, encouraged and dominated by the Carthusian monks, the area acquired worldwide renown that makes it today one of the most important wine-growing areas in the world.
MORE OF THE XES
The Mas de en Xes vineyard is the largest in Perinet, around 10,64 ha, spread over 60% north-facing slopes (Cabernet and Syrah) and 40% northeast (Garnacha and Mazuelo). Syrah and Cabernet are planted on terraces and the Garnacha and Mazuelo vines on narrow margins that simulate an amphitheater from where you can see an exceptional view of Montsant at 400 meters above sea level. The vineyard was planted between the years 2000-2001. The harvest is manual and very separated in time, given the difference in the maturation of the grapes.
MORE VELL
The sunny orientation of this vineyard is its most differentiating element, the vineyard is oriented to the south from where grapes of exceptional maturity are taken. Unlike most areas in the south of Priorat, where the vines grow at a lower altitude (200-250m), the altitude of Mas Vell is between 385 and 450m. The height makes the aromas of the fruit are present in the wines together with a remarkable acidity, which confers a beautiful and balanced maturity. The vineyard area is 7,44ha, planted with Merlot, Syrah, Garnacha and Cabernet. The vines are 17 years old, arranged in terraces and arbors. Both pruning and harvesting are done manually.
EARRINGS
Pendents, located near Porrera, is the steepest plot of our vineyards. In some areas the slope exceeds 30º. With a completely north-eastern (west) orientation, Pendents is strongly influenced by offshore winds. With a size of 4 hectares, this is the smallest vineyard planted in Perinet, although it enjoys great personality, given the purity of the landscape and the spectacular nature of the complex. The varieties planted are Mazuelo (Cariñena), Garnacha and Cabernet.
