It is the first -and only- wine that has the recognition of "Estate Wine" of the DO Montsant; in fact, it is one of the few Catalan wines with this classification. Teixar has its own personality that stands out. "We have to feel lucky to enjoy this Garnatxa Peluda that concentrates wisdom from past harvests, that we are indebted to fate to let us give life to this special wine," they say from Teixar at the Vinyes Domenech winery.

When tasting it, its cherry color with violet tones enters your mouth with creaminess, freshness and citrus touches. Providing a balanced acidity, its tannins give a lot of flavor. It is ideal to enjoy with meats.

Description

The Teixar from Viñas Domènech is the first wine from the DO Montsant and the fourth from Catalonia that the Incavi grants the qualification of “estate wine”. It is a recognition that distinguishes the unique and climatic characteristics, the cluster wines from the same property, which follows the protocols and production scores, more demanding production yields by the DO, as well as a national prestige as an international for more than ten years.

The Teixar de Vinyes Domènech estate comes from the name of a corner of Capçanes known as the Font del Teixar, plots with a surface area of 3 ha and is located in a protected natural area of great beauty and ecological value, between the Sierra de Llaberia and el Montalt, at 400 meters of altitude, surrounded by mountains with pine forests and Mediterranean undergrowth, the orography is very irregular, which favors the intensity of the winds and with less insolation that delays the vegetative cycle of the plant and favors a slower maturation that provides the maximum expression to the Garnacha.

Tasting note:

This red wine is cherry-colored with violet tones. On the nose, notes of currant, blackberry and cherry, to later give way to mentholated notes, licorice and aromatic herbs. On the palate, creamy, fresh and with nuanced citrus touches. It is a very expressive wine with a fair acidity and tannins full of flavor.

Operating temperature: 14 ° C - 16 ° C.

Viticulture: ecological and certified by the CCPAE and Biodynamics.

Geology and soil: clayey - calcareous, stony, shallow and poor in organic matter.

Crafting: in spontaneous yeast, the vinification of each bed is made separately in 500 and 300 liter barrels. They rest for about 14 months in old French oak barrels.

The Vinyes Domenech winery is synonymous with the search for perfection through simplicity, but which in turn makes it something very unique. They do not understand the making of a wine without taking care of the whole environment as the most important thing.

This is how Joan Ignasi and Rita began in 2002, knowing that this area of the Montsant Natural Park is wonderful, very unique, that it has a unique biodiversity, and an incomparable landscape. As all their wines are a luxury, worked in a monovarietal way with grapes from the area: the white, red, red-gray and hairy Grenache are the ones chosen for their wines. Considered one of the best wineries in the DO Montsant, they are immersed in that trend to care for and preserve the territory. Working the land and its vineyards with organic and biodynamic agriculture, and prioritizing the basic principles that act in nature, in order to achieve balance and better health for the plant.

Because sustainability is a first-order issue for the Domènech family, and year after year, they are achieving something very important. Which is to reduce the consumption of natural resources and consequently, the emission of greenhouse gases.

One of those wines that are truly wonderful to enjoy in company. It tastes like Priorat and leaves a fantastic taste in your mouth. I like it a lot with a tenderloin to the point.
