Xavier Lahuerta is not a typical chef, who adapts to the places where he works, but uses one of his most excellent virtues, empathy, to create a new reality, which balances its gastronomic commitment with the expectations of the diner.

Xavier La Huerta is  Executive chef of the Mercer's Restaurant (Hotel Mercer 5 * Grand Luxe).

Xavier La Huerta is ours Gastronomy Ambassador, that is, the person in MadeinSpain, who, through their knowledge and practice in the world of gastronomy, is the perfect ingredient to connect and set the experiences.

Xavier Lahuerta is one of the great chefs of his generation. But it's not just that, and it doesn't want to be just that. His aspiration and his purpose is to be a researcher of everything that may arise around the kitchen. Workshopsshowcookings, presentations, events, classes at home, for companies, creation and start-up of exclusive gastronomic spaces, catering services out of the ordinary, everything that makes the kitchen the common thread through which people who want to meet have a good time, a good way of thinking, acting, doing, relating.

This is an experience that leaves the person with a feeling of having been in a different place, within Barcelona itself. Because Alehop is a special place, in a very authentic area of ​​the city, Poble Sec, known for being the neighborhood where the great singer-songwriter was born Joan Manel Serrat. They help you prepare food, cut it, wash it, to prepare them for the oven, to decorate them, they are their authentic assistants!!

The dishes that are prepared in this experience range changing depending on the time of year we are in, since it only cooks seasonal and local products.

Xavier Lahuerta is a lover of his land, and explains with passion and a lot of knowledge, the origins of the products, and what goes to do with them.

Everything cooked, later, will be what the people present there. All on an imperial table, perfectly prepared and decorated.

Wine pairing

But a MadeinSpain showcooking would not be something different without the correct wine pairing. And for this, our Wine Connoisseur, Zoltan Nagy, will explain to us throughout the experience, the wines chosen for this occasion, their history, their owners, the characteristics of what we will be drinking and why they are ideal for the menu designed by Xavier Lahuerta.
